Classes of Tickets That Impact Your Insurance

traffic ticketsTickets issued under the Highway Traffic Act (HTA) or Criminal Code of Canada (CCC) appear on your driver abstract and affect your insurance rates.

Tickets are divided into three classifications: major, minor, and serious convictions, which include criminal acts. All types of tickets affect your insurance rate, regardless of demerit points accrued.

Parking Tickets:

The only consequence of not paying your parking tickets is that your licence plate will not be renewed. That is, you will not get your renewal “sticker” unless you pay for your parking tickets. They do not affect your driver’s licence, insurance record or appear on your driver’s abstract.
